Starting Gate Teaching Intern Scholarship; $1,000/semester
Deadline: 8/2/14 (for Fall 2014 Semester); 12/12/14 (for Spring 2015 semester)

Our Starting Gate afterschool program is currently accepting teaching interns.  Interns are asked to work with middle school students in Paris or Lexington two nights per week. At successful completion of this internship, participating college students will receive a $1,000 scholarship from The Race For Education to be used for tuition.

Thoroughbred
Up to $6,000 per year; Deadline 2/27/15

Available to students from any background wishing to pursue a career in the equine or agriculture industry. Apply online!

4-H 'Leg Up' Scholarship
$250; Deadline to 4-H Club/County agent 5/29/15

Available to one 4-H Horse Program club member in his/her senior year of high school in EACH 4-H club in Kentucky. (4-H 'Leg Up' applicants MUST apply with their club/county agent by hard copy application and CANNOT apply online via RFE's website.)

Locust Trace Agri-Science Scholarship
$5,000; Deadline 4/10/15

The Locust Trace Agri-Science Scholarship is available to a student of Locust Trace High School pursuing a degree in an agriculture related field of study.

RTIP/Xpressbet Scholarship
Up to $5,000 per year; Deadline 5/29/15

This scholarship is sponsored by Xpressbet for a student to attend the Race Track Industry Program at the University of Arizona. Apply online!

Washington Scholarship for the Arts, the Horse and a Whole Lot More!
Up to $2,500 per year; Deadline 4/1/15

The Scholarship for the Arts, the Horse and a Whole Lot More! is available to Washington State resident(s) OR student(s) attending a Washington State school who wish to pursue a recognized art program at a college, university or art school. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage artists, not limited to equine artists, and to support the arts in general. The scholarship is sponsored by the Washington Thoroughbred Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, in conjunction with the Equine Art Committee. Apply Online!

Washington Thoroughbred Foundation Scholarship
Up to $5,000 per year; Deadline 2/27/15

Available to resident of Washington State OR attending a Washington school. You must also have declared a major in an equine related field. Apply online!

Winner's Circle
Up to $5,000; Deadline to SCAAEP Chapter Advisor 2/13/15

Available to veterinary students in their 3rd year (7-9th semesters) of study who are intending to enter equine veterinary medicine. (Winner's Circle applicants MUST apply to their chapter advisor by hard copy application and CANNOT apply online via RFE's website.)

HOW DO I APPLY?

To apply for a scholarship, please click on Apply Now! button to the right.  You may begin applying on December 5, 2014. Keep this page open in another tab for reference while you are applying online.  

The Apply Now! button takes you to a site called STARS Online where you must setup a username and password before you can apply for a scholarship. When it asks for your RFE student id number, please use your phone number.

WHAT INFORMATION WILL I HAVE TO PROVIDE?

You will be asked a series of questions and required to upload materials electronically which include:

-Signed letters of recommendation (Optional. Seal may be broken to scan and upload);

-Current official transcript (Optional, but may be requested at a later date. Seal may be broken to scan and upload); 


-Student Aid Report (SAR) received in response to you filing the FAFSA;

-If you have NOT received your Student Aid Report, you MUST submit either your parent/guardian's previous year’s tax return and current year’s W2 form OR the current year’s tax return. (Additional years may be requested.); 
  
-Financial aid award letter(s) (including other scholarship awards), if applicable. 

HELPFUL TIPS:
-Once you have completed your initial application information (ex; opening questionaire, personal, financial and academic information as well as uploaded documents and completed the essay questions.) The Stars site will tell you which scholarships you are eliglible for. You will then need to click on each scholarship(s) and complete the application(s).

- The Stars site will save your information at any point suring the process. So feel free to answer a little or all and then revisit.

-Documents can be uploaded as PDF, Word and/or image files. 

-DO NOT PHYSICALLY SEND YOUR APPLICATION TO OUR OFFICE.  Application must be made via the website link to the right.

-PLEASE NOTE: For application to the Winner's Circle, 4H 'Leg Up' and Starting Gate Teaching Intern Scholarships, you must still apply by mail.   

-The Winner's Circle, 4H 'Leg Up' and Starting Gate Teaching Intern scholarship programs are the ONLY scholarships you may apply for via mail. ALL other scholarships MUST be applied for via the link at the right of this page.
